At first just a baby in a manger
Then a child that roamed the streets of galilee
Just a boy working in his father's carpenter shop
So long ago and far away from me
History records his deeds of greatness
And they tell of his compassion in his time
But here and now I search for answers to my problems
No I found no thought that gave me peace of mind
But then I saw him on the cross
At calvary I saw the crown of thorns
I saw the nails in his hands and feet
Redemption's calls for me displayed
How could my heart have not been swayed
A sinner lost but then I saw him on the cross
Upon my knees I pleaded at an altar
Lord invite me where redemption does abide
I cried to god but seemed to hear no answer
So sure his well of mercy had run dry
But then I saw him on the cross
At calvary I saw the crown of thorns
I saw the nails in his hands and feet
Redemption's calls for me displayed
How could my heart have not been swayed
A sinner lost but then I saw him on the cross
A sinner lost but then I saw him on the cross
