I Think I'll Always Write - Interview

I don't know it'll drive me creatively next

Bokowski has a

it says

If you take the writer away from the typewriter

All you're left with is the disease

That made him right in the first place

And that sort of fits me you know

I didn't mean to write writing sort of found me happily

Uh but it's a pretty integral

Part of my existence um i think in in sentences

You know i'm always shaping a phrase i'm always

It's like a mirror

It's just a constant looking glass in my mind

Um so i don't know

I've never thought of it in terms of like

What makes me right or inspires me to write

Um luckily i write when i'm happy

That's nice to know

A lot of artists can't write when they're happy

I think i write better when i'm happy but

The nature of my creativity is definitely changed

I'm not that young starving

Hurt child anymore

That wrote for those reasons necessarily

Um

But luckily i also wrote for the just sheer

Joy and fascination of short story telling as well

And i think i'll always write

Um

I have found the business really

Fun and really exciting

Separately of our

You know being a good business person and

Learning what it takes it can be very creative

Learning what it takes to try and push

A single that doesn't really have a chance

Up the charts and

Um that kind of fight

I'm very competitive that way with myself

I don't even know what's going on on the radio

So i don't feel competitive with my peers

Necessarily cause

There's no way to compete with them

But just with myself

I've liked

I've liked taking my music to the top of the game

I've liked trying to debut my songs high

It's a it's a fun challenge

It's a really hard thing to write a good song that'll

Lots of people will hear it's really

Easy to write a bad pop song like a bad hit

And it's really easy to write

You know a really cool trendy

Emotional track that nobody will hear

That's really credible

It's really hard to put the two together and

That's kept me going creatively

It's why i'm still making records

Um can't honestly say that'll always be there for me

I i'm getting pretty tired of

Of the promotion and the and the game that you play

The music environment's kind of a strange one right now

And i'd be happy to probably

Start making smaller records or make a country record or

Start just making records where i'm not competing at

Such a high level

This is called bakowski's widow

I'm a big bakowski fan

And i got to meet his widow

I guess i sort of just made up a palm for her

With absolutely no right to do so
